Basket Pressed Tempranillo 2017 (Burnt Out)

Tasting Notes:            The bouquet displays savoury varietal fruit characters with overtones of blueberry, raspberry and cherry cola.  Plush red fruits roll across the palate meshed with mixed spices and combined with cedary oak and savoury grape tannins.  This wine can be enjoyed young but will benefit from additional cellar maturation.


Winemakers Notes:   Tempranillo is best known as the dominant grape of Rioja’s wines, Spain’s best known and most respected grape growing region.  Here it is known for producing superior wines with tight structures, complex aromas and great ageing potential.  The grapes for this wine were picked at 13 Baume, cold soaked for 3 days then fermented in open fermenters prior to being Basket Pressed into French oak for 12 months.  Bottled without any fining and filtration and minimal levels of sulphur.
