Tasting Notes: Intense aromas of plum, blackberry and spice compliment the subtle use of French and American oak. The palate is dominated by a variety of forrest berries, rhubarb and mocha with soft velvety tannins and balanced acidity. This Shiraz is elegant but complex and finishes with length, intensity and a vibrant fruit driven core.

Winemakers Notes: Extremely low crop levels and ideal growing conditions ensured the 2012 vintage was ideal for the development intense varietal characters. Weather conditions were very mild day time temperatures during January, February and March with the nights averaging below 10 degrees all conductive to exceptional flavour development and the retention of natural acidity in the fruit. After harvesting the grapes were destemmed and fermented in half tonne open fermenters with regular hand plunging. After fermentation finished the wine went through an extended maceration on skins for 14 days prior to being gently basket pressing into a combination of French and American oak, where it was aged for over two years.
