Our Story
New Era Vineyards is a premium cool climate wine brand and vineyard located just outside woodside in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Owned by the Baxter family, the vineyard was one of the earlier vineyards established in the cool climate of the Woodside - Adelaide Hills region in 1988 and possesses a location that takes full advantage of its northerly facing aspect. This family run vineyard and winery operations produces just over 1500 cases of wine per year from more than ten different varieties. The fruit for these wines is carefully hand selected in the vineyard and then crafted into wines by father and son combination Bob and Iain Baxter. Bob whose passion after working 25 years with Australia's largest wine producer Southcorp and iconic brands including Lindeman’s, Leo Buring, Wynn’s and Penfold’s was to produce his own wines that are individually distinctive and exceptional quality and value.

Wine Making, Viticulture & Biodiversity:
New Era’s philosophy on winemaking is governed by minimal intervention and to allow the individual terroir of the vineyard to shine through in our wines. This is achieved through traditional winemaking techniques that have minimal impact and influence on the flavour and character on the finished wines. We have adopted and in collaboration use a variety of new and old-world wine making techniques together to produce wines that express their origins and the individual terroir of New Era and the Adelaide Hills.
Our attitude centres around that of biodiversity and the sustainable future of the Vineyard and the local environment, flora and fauna that inhabit the property. Over the last couple of years, a family of kangaroo’s has called New Era home and we enjoy the opportunity to share this wonderful environment with them. A policy of minimum applications of herbicides, pesticides and other foreign chemicals unsure that we use only minimal chemicals and well below industry standards. Bob and Iain tender the vines all the way through the growing seasons from hand pruning the vines using a combination of both spur and cane pruning to leaf plucking and bunch thinning.
