New Era Vineyards is a premium cool climate wine label and vineyard located just outside woodside in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. It was one of the pioneering vineyards established in the cool climate of the Woodside Adelaide Hills wine region in 1988, who specialise in the production of alternate varieties. The fruit for these small batch wines is carefully hand selected in the vineyard and then crafted into wines using boutique traditional method’s by father and son combination Bob and Iain Baxter.
Our Wines:
Art Series Pet Nat
The Art Series Pet Nat is vinified from a mixture of 85% Dolcetto and 15% Pinot Grigio blended to produce a highly aromatic and delicate sparkling wine. Displaying a combination of strawberries, raspberries, tropical fruits, and a little spice to finish.
Art Series Pinot Grigio
bouquet of white blossom and hints of pure lemon and grapefruit, while the palate reveals ripe, delicious apple, pear and peach flavours that finish in a wave of flinty pebbles in a stream.
Art Series Arneis
Aromas of lemongrass, honeydew, pineapple and perfume. The palate is round and rich displaying nashi pears, apricots, and glazed peaches with crisp acid to finish.
Art Series Gruner Veltliner
Hand-picked fruit, destemmed, pressed, one portion fermented in stainless steel, the other fermented with wild yeast in oak. Lemon, lime rind, pear, ginger, and white pepper. Entwined in a generous palate, textural and long combined with juicy acidity to finish.
Art Series Dolcetto Rose
A fragrant bouquet of crushed rose petals, musk sticks, and strawberries is complemented by an attractive and textured palate of raspberries, cranberries, and cherry fruit.
Art Series Sangiovese
The nose displays ripe cherry, strawberry and floral aromas. The palate is full of bright red fruits, dried herbs, tomato bush and soft savory tannins.
Art Series Tempranillo
Cherry cola, blackberry, spice and dusty cedar aromas. Red fruits and chewy tannins, and balanced acidity finishing with a pleasant sarsparilla cola character.
Art Series Touriga Nacional
The bouquet exhibits a complex bouquet with wild blackberries and interspersed with spice, leather and violets. The palate is juicy and full with dark berries, balanced with complex savoury undertones and mulberries to finish.
Art Series Lagrein
'Bob's favourite wine and a variety originating from Italy's Alto Adige'. Aromas of black cherries and cranberries, hints of aniseed and lively cinnamon spice. The palate is rich and luscious with plums, dark red fruits and an overlay of dark chocolate.
Art Series Syrah
Intense aromas of plum, blackberry, spice and the subtle use of French oak. A variety of forest berries, rhubarb and mocha on the palate with soft velvety tannins and balanced acidity to finish.
Barrel Select Pinot Noir
"A plummy, rich pinot noir with chocolate inflections, high-toned minty and eucalyptus elements, rhubarb, cranberry, and faint game-meat notes in tow. Between this, a slosh of dark cherry, chocolate and herbal notes. It feels a bit stewed and forward, despite its intent as a more powerful and full-flavoured style." Barrel Select Montepulciano
Dark red fruits, kalamata olive, spice that lead into a palate that is rich, savory and full of licorice, chocolate and has a black forest cake finish.
Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Oldest vines on the property and always produces small flavourful crops. Cassis, blackberry, notes on the nose. Supple red fruits and drying tannins perfectly compliment the pencil shavings and savory finish. Drinking at it's best now and for the next 5 years.
Barrel Select Shiraz 2016
The best selection of the best clonal and block pick from the 2016 vintage has produced a wine that was extremely successful on the wine show circuit. Displaying typical cool climate varietal fruit characters of red berry fruits and white pepper. The palate exhibits a broad spectrum of fleshy black fruits with licorice, dark chocolate and finishes long with vanillin French oak.
